Design Wall Monday

As I am waiting for the UFO for September to be announced at 52 Quilts, I am working on the third of my BOM for this year, Union Blues. I am a bit behind on this, so will use the extra few days left of August to get a little caught up. I will be making 48 of the block below.

Next up will be 22 triangle units and then I will be almost caught up.

Sunday Stash Report

Winston Ways is complete! 

This Bonnie Hunter Design was started almost two years ago in a workshop here in San Diego. It is nice to have this one complete and off my UFO list. There are two more Bonnie quilts left to finish for this year.

No adds this week, but that may change as the San Diego Quilt Show is here starting on Aug 31. So here we have the up to date usage. Only 4 more months to go to make a bigger dent.

Design Wall

This week finds me working on the next installment of Prairie Gathering. This is one of the BOM's slated for completion this year. For month 7, the flying geese borders were added along with a mall stop border that I still need to add. Other units were also made this month to use for future rounds. 

Hoping to also get back to Union Blues this month. This one I am behind on and need to do some catching up.

Sunday Stash Report

This week has been a hot one in San Diego and not much change in the Stash. A small finish for this week, my August UFO, a pattern called Drop from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. It finishes at 15x17.

Just a small purchase from Rosie's Calico Cupboard, some stripes for the Lucy Boston Quilt I am slowly working on. Below are my latest blocks. They are all hand sewn, which I never thought I would be hand sewing a quilt! But I do enjoy picking out the fabrics and fussy cutting to see what design I can come up with. It is also a great project to take on the road.

Design Wall

This week I am visiting family in Angeles Camp, up in the Sierra Foothills. I brought along my August UFO, Drop, a mini quilt that takes 2.5" squares.  I did not bring my Janome this time so I am using Mom's Bernette.

Below are some of the finished blocks, which finish at 2.5"and the centers that finish at 1.5"

This should finish up fast, and then I will be on to one of the 2 Bonnie Hunter Quilts left to finish this year, Midnight Flight and Lazy Sunday. Sunday Stash Report

I finally get a little stash relief, with a finish this week! The last border for Freedom Rings was sewn in place last night. This quilt is by Paula Barnes and was a block of the month in 2012. It is one of three block of the month quilts that I hope to finish this year. I enjoyed making all the star blocks and most of them were pretty easy.

Design Wall

This week finds two projects on the design wall. Freedom Rings below is in the final stages of assembly and hope to be complete by the end of the week. Just need to find a bit of sewing time!

Winston Ways is also on the Design floor, where I am busy sewing together the rows and have borders all ready to go! Below are just a few of the 30 blocks in this quilt.

If that is not enough, my next UFO up is #6, which is a mini! Hooray! I might have a chance to get it done this month.

Stash Report

No change in the stash this week, but Sunday found DH and I at Balboa Park at the San Diego Museum of Art where there was a great exhibit called Quilts and Color, from the collection of Pilgrim and Roy. There were some outstanding examples of antiques quilts in excellent condition on display. The exhibit is from the Boston Museum of Fine arts and will be in the park until Sept 4. This is a must see if you are in San Diego! Below are a few of my favorites!
