Design Wall

 

February is flying by, with one extra day this year for Leap Year. This week is sewing together all the blocks that were finished for Pole Star. I hop this will be a finish I can report for the next stash report and #3 UFO for the year! This week also brings more prepping for the last Vintage Valentine blocks. Applique pieces are cut and in the process of being prepped to place on the background fabric. This last block is the largest at 26x26, all the rest are 14x14. Busy week for me.

Stash Report

A small finish this week. These are microwave popcorn bags and work great! They will be part of items that will be for sale at the AQG Boutique during the Arizona Quilt show coming up in March. I have six made so far and have six more to go.

The last of the blocks to be put together for Pole Star. 11 more to go! Hope to get this quilt finished this week before the end of February.

Design Wall

Making progress on my Pole Star Quilt. This week I will be working on the second of the paper pieced blocks. If those get finished, I might even get to sewing the rows together. 

I am also prepping the last of my Vintage Valentine blocks, the large middle block. This one will take awhile as it has over 100 pieces to prep! Next month will be the final month, sashing and borders. This has been a great project to do monthly. I would never have completed this if I had bought the whole kit or even the pattern. One block a month was perfect to get finished.

This week I spent some time putting bindings on a few Charity Quilts that were made by Sunrise Stitchers.  I do the quilting and put the binding on. The ladies in my Tuesday Sewing Group will do the hand sewing and add the labels, so these will get passed off on Tuesday.

 Nothing added to the stash and small usage for the bindings I used from my stash. Making progress in using up the stash!

On my design wall this week is Pole Star, from my class at Road to California. Have mostly paper pieced blockst to finish on this one. So far I am liking the colors that I chose, which were different from the orginal. Check back next week to see if I have made any progress!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Are you for the Chiefs or the 49'ers? I am for a either to win and hope to see a good game. The Pirate quilt is finished. Ok, this was a fun one to make with block patterns and a couple of kits from a quilt run in 2015. Super nice to have it finished, and it was going to be a donation but DH has claimed it. So for now it will reside with me. It will be next on the Longarm after I finish up some placemats and a table runner for Sandi.

So a little more usage to claim. Nothing purchased this week, so I am now in the black for 2024!

Design Wall

 

On my design wall this week are the Pirate Blocks. Above are the first 4, almost completed. I still need to do the machine applique. There will be nine blocks in total, all different. This will be a donation to Arizona Quilts for kids. The blocks were part of a Shop Hop in San Diego from 2015, yes 2015. They have been sitting in one of my project boxes all this time. So happy to get them out and completed for a good cause. 

We are in for a rainy week, or at least for the nest 3-4 days. We will see if it really happens, as sometimes the forecast can be disappointing. We are hoping for a break on Friday so we can go to the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament, alwayas a good time.

Indigo Way

I can finally claim a finish for 2024! Indigo way is finished and ready for quilting. The green that I used instead of the red did not contrast as much as I would have liked, but I still like how it turned out. I am always pleased with Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt, even when I deviate from her color choices.

No additions to the stash. Still need to use up a bit more to get into the black.
