Design Wall

 

Yesterday we had a sew day for my monthly chapter meeting. In the morning we had a great presentation by Heidi Pridemore from The Whimiscal Workshop. Her lecture, A few of my favorite things, talked about all kinds of different notions and how to use them. Even after all these years quilting, I still learned a thing or two. Heidi also shared many of her beautiful quilts, and the patterns that are available for them. 

We then got down to sewing and I started on the Courthouse blocks above. I am trying to use up all of my 2.5" strips and put together some scrappy charity quilts. This will be my ongoing project for this year.

Slowly making progress on my Kitten Love quilt. I have about 30 more blocks to go, and will be trying to make 4-6 each day. Want to get this one off the design wall and on to the next project.

My first chick is done! The rest are cut out and ready to sew. These go together pretty fast and I am hoping to have this finished this week. The hardest part was picking out the fabrics. More Kittens are also in the works,

Design Wall

The first of the cat blocks are on the design wall this week. I will need to make around 60 of these, along with some heart blocks for the quilt. These were super easy and go together very quickly.

QOV blocks were also completed. These were cut out during Sandi's visit on the Accquilt. I have a few more to complete and turn in later in March.

Yah!! A finish this week. The Acorn Love Runner is done and ready to go in the quilting que. This was a pretty easy pattern using 5" squares and could be done in any fall fabrics. I used fabrics from Autum Love by Lori Holt.

Next up is the Cat Quilt, which is all cut out and ready to sew.

Acorn Blocks are in the works! Hoping to finish up this tablerunner and move on to other projects. Next up will be the Cat project for one of my Granddaughters.

I will be making this one, but more scrappy with cat fabrics for all the cats.

February is flying by! Not much to report in the way of finishes or adds to the Stash. Wonky Wishes blocks are done and next up will be the string pieced sashing. I am making mine a bit smaller than the pattern, with 20 blocks instead of 25. This week also brings QuiltCon to Pheonix and I hope to get the the show over the weekend.

Old Town

Yes, it is finally finished. Love how this one turned out, so bright and fun. 

Next up will be quilting and binding.

Friday we took a trip over to the Arizona Fair Grounds for the Quilting, Sewing and Craft Expo.

It did not disappoint! Many great ideas, a few fabrics and a couple new, but small,  projects were added. I was pretty good and did some resisiting!

Design Wall

Along with finishing up Old Town this week, I am working on Wonky Wishes, another Bonnie Hunter pattern. This is my Tuesday project when I get together with friends for sewing. This is a long tern project with about half of the blocks made and hoping to get a few more done each week.

The sewing and craft festival starts tomorrow at the Arizona Fair Grounds. It is always after Road to California Quilt show, with many of the vendors making the trip here to Arizona. I am looking forward to seeing what is new and fun when we head to the show on Friday.

Sashing was completed this week and now on the design wall with all the blocks. Just need to start sewing it all together. I am anxious to get this one finished and move on to another project.

Sandi and I had a great time visiting. We spent some nice time in my sewing room, cutting out a project and putting together all the threads and patterns for her quilts that I will be quilting. Tuesday came up way to quick and she was off to the airport to head back to San Diego. Looking forward to our next visit sometime soon.

Sandi and I had a great time at the quilt show on Friday, after I picked her up. Here are a few of the award winners. I really liked the Sew quilt. The quiltin was beautiful.

On Saturday we headed to Mulqueens for my longarm meeting and some shopping. We also were able to visit two more quilt shops after lunch. Mad B's and Quilter's Oasis. We had a great time shopping and I picked up some addtions for the stash.

Tomorrow I am back to my Tuesday Sewing group. We have not all been together since before Christmas. I am looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Sandi will also be visiting later this week and The AQG Quilt show starts on Thursday Night. I will be working at the quilt show on Friday and then picking Sandi up from the airport. Looking forward to her visit!

The first of the units for making the blocks for Old Town are finished. Next up are putting together the flying geese units below and then the block consturction will begin.

 I am still working on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt. Flying geese were finished part 8, along with more flying geese units added to the hourglass units below. This was from part 7. I am all caught up and the Big Reveal was on Friday. You can find it here.

My UFO's have been picked, only 9 this year. Some of them are quite involved, so I gave myself extra finishing time. I also hope to get a couple of smaller, charity projects completed. You can check them all out here.

The rest of this week I will be catching up with Bonnie's Mystery quilt, Old Town. Yesterday was the release of clue 8, above, and on Friday will be the next clue. I am all cut out and ready to sew!
